eBay Gallery Plus Option Automatically Checked in Turbo Lister 2
My wife noticed while she was posting items for sell on
with Turbo Lister
2 today that the checkbox for adding a Gallery Plus picture was being checked
automatically. She didn't want an additional fee for this feature and was
annoyed that the box was being checked. She pointed out to me that many other
people were complaining of the same problem at
Turbo Lister adding Gallery Plus to my Listings!
When I checked that webpage, though, I found some people stating that the
Gallery Plus images were free when sellers posted items for sale in some
categories, e.g., collectibles. Someone posted the following from an eBay
announcement in 2009:
We are excited to announce that we are making eBay individual pictures,
Picture Pack and Gallery Plus free for items listed in the following categories
— Collectibles, Art, Pottery & Glass, and Antiques. We are committed to
the success of our sellers and to continually improving the overall experience
for all of our customers — both buyers and sellers
When I checked an eBay
page on Gallery Plus, I found no mention of the above statement, but I
did find that information on the link from that page to an
eBay fees information
When I checked the auction items in Turbo Lister 2 for which she was
seeing the box being checked even when she had unchecked it, I found she
had designated the category for them items as "collectibles", so I told her
she shouldn't see any Gallery Plus fee for those items.
Turbo Lister Postage Warning
When she tried to upload an item she intended to sell on eBay with Tubo Lister
version 126.96.36.199, my wife received the error message below:
Warning - The postage cost will be calculated based on dimensional
weight, not the actual weight of your package. Please check the weight
and dimensions of your package.
She had specified the dimensions and weight of the item and both domestic
and international shipping options, so it wasn't apparent to either of us
why she received the message. Apparently, the warning can be ignored, though.
I found someone else,
posting the following at
Re: error code: 21916962 on July 9, 2010.
That's only an informational warning.
The only way to 'get rid of this error' would be to substitute the
dimensional weight as calculated by the shipping carrier.
A better solution is to filter out the warnings you don't care about.
When she ignored the message and uploaded the item for sale with Turbo
Lister, the item looked fine on eBay.
Using a Shared Database at a Network Location with eBay's Turbo Lister 2
My wife uses eBay's Turbo
2 to manage her eBay
She has a custom template she uses and wanted to have her laptop and
desktop systems use the same information, i.e. any change she made
in the program while working on the laptop would be seen by
Turbo Lister on her desktop system and vice versa. The laptop was
new; she had been using Turbo Lister 2 exclusively on the desktop
So when I installed Turbo Lister 2 (version 188.8.131.52 was shown when
I clicked on Help and About Turbo Lister after installing the
software) on her laptop running Windows 7,
I checked to see what registry value it was using, after I ran the
program once, to point to the location it uses for its data directory. There was
no option for specifying the location for the program's data when
I checked under Tools and Options in the program, so
I had to find the location in the registry. On the Windows 7 laptop,
I saw the following registry value under
I checked the contents of that directory from a command prompt and
saw there were 3 .tdb files within that directory, an
user000.tdb and one associated with a name
matching her eBay store.
Note: you may not see the directory from the Windows Explorer,
C:\ProgramData is a hidden directory, if
you don't have it configured to show hidden folders. But, if you
get a command prompt and issue the command,
dir "C:\ProgramData\eBay\Turbo Lister2", you
should see its contents.
On her Windows XP desktop system, I found the following registry
value for the location of Turbo Lister's databases:
||C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\eBay\Turbo Lister2|
I copied the contents of the directory
C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\eBay\Turbo Lister2 from the desktop system to a shared network
folder. Then on both systems I changed the registry value for
DataDir to point to that location. E.g., you could use the
following, if the system that was sharing the folder was named
MyServer and the shared folder was shared as
Auctions with a
directory created within it.
Note: don't make the registry changes while Turbo Lister is open.
