Comments: Memtest86 is thorough, stand alone memory test for x86 architecture computers. BIOS based memory tests are a quick, cursory check and often miss many of the failures that are detected by Memtest86.

Memtest86 is released under the terms of the Gnu Public License (GPL). Other than the provisions of the GNU public licence (GPL) there are no restrictions for use, private or commercial. Explicit permission for inclusion of Memtest86 in software compilations and publications is hereby granted.

To create a bootable floppy disk, you can download memtest86_3-3.exe and run it to generate a bootable floppy disk or download memt32.zip, unzip it and then run the install.bat file, which will prompt you to insert a formatted floppy disk in your floppy drive. It will then create a bootable floppy disk. You won't be able to view any files on the floppy from within Windows or DOS, since the diskette won't be readable by Windows or DOS, but you can boot a system with the floppy disk to automatically start a thorough memory test of the system.
