Removing saved email addresses, etc. from Firefox

When you go to websites where a form is present with fields for an email address, etc., such as the Facbook page for logging into the site, when you click on the field for the email address you may see a list of email addresses that the browser has saved to auto fill fields in forms for you. If you wish to have the browser "forget" those email addresses and other information, take the following steps:
  1. Click on the 3 horizontal bars, one below the other, that appear at the upper, right-hand corner of the Firefox window which opens the Firefox menu then choose Options.

    Firefox menu

Or hit the Alt-T keys together and choose Options.

  2. Click on Privacy.
  3. Under History, you will see the following:

You may want to clear your recent history, or remove individual cookies.

Click on "clear your recent history".

  4. In the Clear All History window, make sure that "Form & Search History" is checked.

You can uncheck other options, such as Browsing & Download History, Cookies, Cache, and Active Logins, if you don't want that informaton also cleared, but you need to at least have Form & Search History checked. Then click on Clear Now. The information is then cleared; you don't need to close and reopen Firefox.

Written for Firefox 38.0.5 on Microsoft Windows, but may apply to other versions as well.
