Prevent Pumpkin_Nook Email from Going Into Junk E-mail or Spam Folders

Mailing list email may be automatically routed into a "junk e-mail" or "spam" folder by some email software. Messages from some mailing lists arrive at your account with a 'To:' address that isn't your e-mail address. Most often the 'To:' address is the mailing list's address. Such messages may be automatically filtered to your Junk E-Mail or Spam folder because the address that appears in the "to" address isn't your actual email address. To prevent this from happening, you can take the steps listed below depending on which email software you are using. The same process can be followed for email from other mailing lists or particular senders as well.

Gmail

Check your "Spam" folder. If you see a message to pumpkin_nook@pumpkinnok.net or with "[Pumpkin Nook]" in the subject, click on the box to the left of the message to check it and then click on the "Not Spam" button, so that Pumpkin Nook messages won't be classified as spam.

Hotmail

Note: if you are using Windows Live Hotmail, the process is slightly different and is listed in a separate Windows Live Hotmail section below.

Check your "Junk E-mail" folder. If you see a message to pumpkin_nook@pumpkinnook.net or with "[Pumpkin Nook]" in the subject, double-click on it to view it and then click on the "Not Junk Mail" button at the bottom of the message. Then to ensure you receive mailing list messages in your Inbox, add pumpkin_nook@pumpkinnook.net to your list of mailing lists by selecting "This message is from a mailing list I belong to. I want to make sure future messages from this same mailing list go to my Inbox, not my Junk E-Mail Folder."

If you don't have any such messages in your Junk E-mail folder currently, you should still edit your Mailing Lists settings to add the Pumpkin Nook mailing list to the mailing lists from which Hotmail will accept email. To do so, take the following steps in Hotmail.

  1. Click on Mail to view your email.
  2. Click on Options near the upper-right corner of the webpage.
  3. Click on Junk E-mail Protection.
  4. Click on Mailing Lists.
  5. In the "Type a single e-mail address" field, type the address used as the "to" address by the mailing list, which in this case is pumpkin_nook@pumpkinnook.net.
  6. Click on the Add button to add the address to the accepted mailing lists.
  7. Click on the OK button.

Windows Live Hotmail

If you are using Windows Live Hotmail, while viewing a mailing list message that has been placed in your Junk folder, click on "Mark as Safe".

If you don't have any such messages in your Junk E-mail folder currently, you should still edit your Mailing Lists settings to add the Pumpkin Nook mailing list to the mailing lists from which Hotmail will accept email. To do so, take the following steps in Hotmail.

  2. Click on Options near the upper-right corner of the webpage.
