If you click on the "+" sign next to a device, you can obtain information such as chip vendor, OEM vendor, and PNP ID.
If you click on File then Save in the program, the progam will generate a text file, DeviceList containing detailed information on the devices installed in the system.
You can right-click on a device and select "Contact Vender" to have the program open your default browser and attempt to locate the vendor's website based on the information it has identified for the device.
Unknown Device Identifier is free, but the developer, HunterSoft, also offers a device driver backup and restore utility, My Drivers for US $39.00. In addition to backing up device drivers, the program will also backup Internet Explorer Favorites and Outlook Express data.
