When I clicked on "View problem details", I saw the problem was
associated with aswWebRepIE.dll
, which was listed
for "Fault Module Name".
Clicking on "Close the program" would simply result in the error window closing and reappearing.
At an avast! Forum site, at aswWebRepIE.dll crashes IE9 I found a July 24, 2012 posting indicating the problem was known and should be corrected in a future update. The advice given was "Why dont you just disable Webrep until the problem is fixed ( which shouldn't be to far away i believe ), it's not such a big deal" The problem is also noted at Internet Explorer has stopped working - problem with aswWebRepIE.dll? where a solution of inactivating the plugin in IE9 is listed. To implement that solution, you can take the following steps:
Right click on an instance of avast! WebRep and choose Disable.
That seemed to resolve the problem after I closed and reopened Internet Explorer.
